Sixteen leaves (i.e. 32 pages including front cover) but incomplete per table of contents (on front cover verso) which cites 80+ pages. Skips in pagination - collates as [front cover/contents], 15-16, 23-36, 39-50. Old stitching along spine: H 23.5cm x L 15.25cm. Chipping, soiling, foxing, tears, and creases, and general wear. Margins of versos have header "J.B. Lippincott & Co.'s Catalogue" with rectos having header "Of Books in General Literature." It is quite likely that the catalog is not an actual New Orleans imprint but was rather printed and prepared by Lippincott for Gresham who was probably their primary retailer in the Crescent City (New Orleans was the 9th largest city in the U.S. by population in 1870). Despite condition flaws the catalog offers an interesting look at what was available (certainly not all in stock but orderable) to a New Orleans reader in the post-Civil War city at the onset of Reconstruction. New Orleans renumbered its streets in the 1890s; Gresham's store address of 92 Camp Street no longer exists but likely correlates to a building on what is now the 100 block of Camp Street which abuts downtown Canal Street and continues in the French Quarter as Chartres Street.…
