paperback. Condition: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.…

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book records and lists the elevation measurements of natural features along meridians and baselines in Western Canada from 1908 to 1914, a period of major infrastructure development in the region. In addition to recording elevations of natural features, the book also includes the elevations of thousands of benchmarks established along these lines. The lines of precise levels were run to control the accumulation of errors that are unavoidable when taking levels in difficult conditions and also include lines of levels whose object is to afford much needed information in the partly settled lands. The author meticulously records the history, methods, and challenges involved in this major undertaking, providing a detailed historical record of the development of this essential infrastructure in Canada. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Original publisher's cloth, spine lettered gilt, with original pictorial unclipped dust jacket. *James Connolly was born at 107 Cowgate, Edinburgh in 1868. At fourteen he joined the King's Liverpool Regiment and served seven years in Ireland. Returning to Scotland in 1889, he was active in the Socialist League and the Social Democratic Federation and later, Keir Hardie's Independent Labour Party. In 1896, after seven years as a socialist agitator and organiser in Edinburgh, he was invited to Dublin where he founded the Irish Socialist Republican Party and edited 'The Workers' Republic' for five years. Emigrating to America in 1903, Connolly was active in the Socialist Labor Party but soon clashed with its leader Daniel De Leon. He joined the IWW ('Wobblies'), becoming New York organiser in 1907. A year later, he was appointed a national organiser for the Socialist Party of America. Returning to Ireland in 1910 as organiser for the Socialist Party of Ireland, he was appointed Ulster Organiser of the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union by its general secretary, Jim Larkin, in 1911. He was active in socialist politics in Belfast for three years before moving to Dublin when he was appointed acting general secretary of the ITGWU in October 1914 following Larkin's departure for America. As Commander of the Irish Citizen Army, Connolly joined with leaders of the Irish Republican Brotherhood in the Easter Rising in Dublin in April 1916. He was Commandant General of the Dublin Division of the Army of the Republic and Vice-President of the Provisional Government of the Irish Republic proclaimed on 23 April 1916. James Connolly was executed by firing squad at Kilmainham Jail, Dublin, on the 12th of May 1916.* A fine copy without any damage, library stamps, inscriptions or other markings. ***WEIGHT OVER 1.2 KG. Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. First published in 1986. This is Volume V of six in a series on Quantitative Analyses of Behavior. Quantitative analysis now generally refers to the fact that theoretical issues are represented by quantitative models. An analysis is not a matter of fitting arbitrary functions to data points. The volumes in the present series have been written for behavioral scientists. Those concerned with issues in the study of how behavior is acquired and then allocated in various environments-biologists, psychologists, economists, anthropologists, and other researchers, as well as graduate students and advanced undergraduates in those areas-should find volumes in this series to be state-of the-art readers and reference works. Each volume of the series examines a particular topic that has been discussed at the annual Symposium on Quantitative Analyses of Behavior held at Harvard University. This volume, V, addresses the topic of how reinforcement value is affected by delay and intervening events. Self-control studies are also presented and discussed. First Published in 1986. Routledge is an imprint of Taylor & Francis, an informa company. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…
