Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Gertrude Howe (illustrator). 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). From 'Oxford Books for Boys And Girls'. You can see the covers in the photos. They are in very nice condition. There is a little bit of rubbing and crinkling at the spine ends, and a few spots of color loss a little bit above the bottom edge of the spine. The spine can be seen in the fifth photo. The top and middle cover edges are in very nice shape. The two bottom ones have some of the expected spots of color loss, but no rub-through. The four corners each have small spots of rub-through. The page edges are very clean. The book is square and the spine is pretty straight. The binding is very solid with nicely tight pages from cover to cover and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book is in very nice condition. In the main, the pages are clean. I counted a dozen or so with one light spot at their margin. I didn't find any instances of creasing. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. There is a penned name off the top edge of the blank front end paper. There is no other writing to be found anywhere else in the book. There is a lovely color illustrated double-page title page which is in very nice condition. There are two other color illustrated double-pages in the book. And then there are thirteen other color illustrations, six of which are full-page. They are all in very nice condition. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It has very little soiling. It has a thin tear off the front middle edge touching the back of the boy's head. There are also several little tears off the top edge of the front. The largest flaw you can see in the second photo, the losses on the spine. There are also small losses at the top corners of the front and rear covers. The flaps are very clean. The aforementioned thin tear continues only about 1/4 inch onto the front flap, and is closed. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I have it in a fitted protective cover. From the dust jacket: 'Jane Quigg knows how to tell a story of everyday life that children always enjoy. Her understanding of their point of view comes from long experience with children as teacher and friend.'.
