Photograph
Vintage reference photograph from the 1975 film, showing actor James Caan. Based on the life and career of Fanny Brice, focusing on her relationship with writer and impresario Billy Rose. The final project of cinematographer James Wong Howe, who came out of retirement to work on the film and received an Academy Award nomination for his efforts. Brice worked in show business as an illustrated song model, comedian, burlesque dancer, theatre and film actress from 1908 until her death in 1951. Her biggest claim to fame was the top-rated radio comedy show "The Baby Snooks Show." She was married three separate times, the final time in 1929 to Billy Rose, who was a songwriter and showman, a major force in entertainment for many decades. Set in New York, shot on location in California and New Jersey. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine. Twilight Time 125.

First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Signed and inscribed by the author, Jay Schulman, on the first front end paper. The inscription reads 'For Lou & change, Jay Schulman.' Lou was Louis Fierman. He wrote his last name off the top edge of the same page (see photo). Louis Fierman was an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University and the Medical Director of Elmcrest Psychiatric Institute in Portland, Connecticut. Both the book and dust jacket are in excellent condition. You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are yellow. They are exceptionally clean. The black lettering on the spine is very bright. The edges and corners are in excellent shape. The bottom page edge has a light stain. However, it has absolutely no bearing on any of the actual pages in the book. These pages are exceptionally clean. I scrolled through them several times without finding any instances of soiling. A handful of early pages have a light top corner crease. I'm not seeing any other creases on any of the other pages. There are no markings anywhere in the book. No attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. I should mention that the book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The inside covers and end papers are black. They are very clean and free of wear. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It is quite clean. There is only one small spot on the front cover. The yellow of the spine is a little bit sun faded. There's a tiny crease off the top edge of the spine and the tiniest sliver of a loss at the bottom edge of the spine. I don't see any tears. The flaps are in terrific shape, exceptionally clean and free of wear. The jacket is NO price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the dust jacket flap: 'As human affairs come to be conducted more and more through large-scale organization, an understanding of how organizations change in response to the growing demands on them is essential. This book examines in detail the social conditions that inhibit or promote structural innovation in organizations. The author places the study of innovation within the context of the sociological history of the two organizations that show how changes in ideas about administration and new knowledge in psychiatry have been incorporated.'. Inscribed by Author(s).
