Hardcover. Condition: Fine. First Edition. 329 pp, Fine condition book does not look like it has been read. It is protected in an acetate cover and slipcase which is in near fine condition. It is a signed/numbered edition by this author, of 350 books. The only flaws I find are a minimal amount of soiling on the edge of the text block (a few pinheads in size) which I believe is ink from the top edge from production and a bit of a rough cut to the bottom edge of text block, again from the factory. ID# FW1. Autographed, signed, modern firsts. Signed by Author(s).

Publisher's linen; black topstain; 8vo; 8.5 inches; [8],442 pages. The bindings are tight and square. Text is clean; light, even age-toning. Moderate shelf handling wear with hand-soiling. Previous owner's name on the endpage. Jerome Weidman's Letter of Credit explores themes of ambition, morality, and the complex dynamics of socio-economic aspiration. Known for his insightful depictions of Jewish-American life, Weidman uses vivid characters and situations to navigate questions of identity and societal pressures. Weidman's writing frequently examines the interplay of personal integrity and success, a theme that resonates through Letter of Credit. The book aligns with his broader literary focus on the gritty realities of urban life and the pursuit of the American Dream. [Adapted from Reviews].

Hardcover. Small 4to. Quarter brown cloth with gilt spine lettering and tan paper over boards, dust jacket. 422pp. Near fine/fine. Superb and tight first edition of this (to cite jacket front) "beguiling memoir by the novelist, playwright, essayist, film writer whose career began with I Can Get It for You Wholesale" -- but let's not forget the 1960 Pulitzer Prize for the musical "Fiorello!" This copy bears odd and interesting autograph addition: Tipped to front flyleaf is a fine 5½" X 8" photocopy of page 429 from Weidman's 1974 novel "Tiffany Street" that Weidman boldly signs in black fineline near the bottom and dates 11 June 1977, as well as changing a word in the text near the bottom (crossing out "at" and inking in "before") -- why he would alter a word in a published text is unclear!
