The certificate has been made out in order to enroll 'Dorothy Marion Cameron Bower' into 'Detachment [8] in the County of [Westmorland]', but has not been signed by her. The first page carries the conditions of use, the second a declaration by the signatory, and the third the permit itself, with facsimile signatures of Arthur Stanley, Chairman, and Louis Pearson, Hon. Secretary, and the actual signatures of Henry Gandy, County Director, and John Mason M.D, Commandant. The last page is for renewal stamps.

Couverture souple. Condition: Très bon. Edition originale. In-quarto broché 6 pages. Exemplaire en très bel état mais avec cependant quelques rousseurs - Barthélémy CORDERANT, secrétaire du district de Versailles pendant les premières années de la Révolution a signé de sa griffe ou de sa main, la dernière page du document. - - - - L'ordre de Saint-Lazare de Jérusalem, ou ordre des hospitaliers de Saint-Lazare de Jérusalem, est un ordre hospitalier fondé à Jérusalem aux xie ou xiie siècle pour accueillir les pèlerins atteints de la lèpre, il ouvrira ses portes aux croisés et chevaliers lépreux pendant les croisades nommés Lazarites. Certains de ses chevaliers lépreux participent à la défense des états latins d'Orient. Après la perte de la Terre sainte, l'ordre se regroupe en France autour de son grand maître à la commanderie de Boigny-sur-Bionne jusqu'à la confiscation de tous ses biens en France à la Révolution. Il subit bien des aléas du fait de ses protecteurs jusqu'au moment où Louis XVIII dilapide les derniers biens restants pendant son exil. Aujourd'hui encore, on continue à célébrer les chevaliers de Saint-Lazare à Boigny-sur-Bionne. Signé par l'auteur.
