Neutrale zweizähnige Liganden sowie alle Übergangsmetallkomplexe wurden anhand von Massenspektren, NMR-Spektren, FT-IR-Spektren und Elementanalysen untersucht. Die Massenspektraldaten bestätigen die Struktur… der Liganden, wie durch den Molekülionenpeak (M+) entsprechend ihrem Molekulargewicht angezeigt. Die IR-Spektraldaten deuten auf eine Bindung des Liganden an das Metallion hin. Darüber hinaus wurden die Komplexe mittels Thermogravimetrie, elektronischen Spektren und magnetischen Messungen untersucht. Die TGA-Untersuchung zeigt eine oktaedrische Geometrie der Komplexe. Das antimykobakterielle Screening des Liganden und seiner Kupferverbindung gegen Mycobacterium tuberculosis zeigt eine deutliche Steigerung der antituberkulösen Aktivität bei der Metallkomplexierung. Außerdem wurde im Vergleich zu den freien Liganden eine gute antimikrobielle Aktivität der Komplexe gegen die verwendeten Stämme festgestellt.

Mass spectral data confirm the structure of ligands as indicated by the molecular ion peak (M+) corresponding to their molecular weight. IR spectral data suggest bonding of ligand toward metal ion. Furthermore, complexes investigated by means of thermogravimetry, electronic spectra and magnetic measurements. TGA study indicates octahedral geometry of complexes. Antimycobacterial screening of ligand and its copper compound against Mycobacterium tuberculosis shows clear enhancement in antitubercular activity upon metal complexation.
