First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Not a book but a double album, comprising a pair of 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm stereo vinyl discs in a cardboard jacket which is not merely a gatefold but which actually folds out into a 24 X 24-inch poster (a rather uninspired pastiche of candid B&W photos plus a few colorful clowns), A&M Records AMLS 6002, very-good-plus vinyl in a very-good jacket. Recorded 27th and 28th March, 1970, at the Fillmore East. A film, this album (featuring at least 11 singers and 10 musicians) and the single "The Letter" / "Space Captain" reportedly resulted. Includes "Honky Tonk Women" (Jagger-Richard, and the disc label now corrected from "Honky Tonk Woman"), Isaac Hayes' "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby"; Bob Dylan's "Girl From The North Country"; Russell & Bramlett's "Give Peace a Chance"; Wayne Carson Thompson's "The Letter," and of course "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window." Etc. Reduced from $14.

Sheet Music First Edition
Albert Wilfred Barbelle (illustrator). Scarce and visually appealing mid-1920s popular song sheet issued during the peak of America's ukulele craze and dance-band era. The striking Jazz Age cover art is by Albert Wilfred Barbelle (1887-1957), one of the best-known illustrators of the Tin Pan Alley era, celebrated for his elegant sheet-music covers and later for illustrating the first Mickey Mouse book. The design depicts a fashionable flapper seated at an early candlestick telephone in stylized blue-and-cream Art Deco coloration, accompanied by an inset photographic portrait of performer Ruth Gillette. Interior includes ukulele tuning instructions and accompaniment diagrams intended for home performance, reflecting the rapid popularization of amateur music-making during the radio age. Condition: Very Good. Complete and fully legible with mild edge wear, light corner creasing, and gentle age toning consistent with 1920s sheet music. Small edge chips and short closed tears at margins; interior music pages remain clean and bright. Cover retains strong color and visual appeal with only moderate handling wear. Edition/printing: first edition/first printing thus, with original 1925 copyright date and no later reprint indicators noted. Henry Creamer (1879-1930) was one of the major African American lyricists of the Tin Pan Alley era, collaborating on numerous vaudeville and Broadway standards. Leon Flatow (1886-1942) was a prolific composer and arranger active in popular music and theatrical publishing during the 1910s-30s. Cover artist Albert Wilfred Barbelle became one of the defining visual stylists of American sheet-music illustration, producing hundreds of memorable covers during the Jazz Age. Jerome H. Remick & Co. was among the leading American sheet music publishers of the early twentieth century, known for colorful illustrated covers and dance-era popular songs.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition, First Printing, 1965. THE GAY FLESH! "All the stark reality of life in the twilight world left intact! Experience the 'gay' bar in vivid detail! Carl meets Charles and knows immediately that he must possess this muscular stranger! Nothing is omitted as we watch the strange affair develop from the tentative initial seeking, through the full bloom of unleashed savage passion!." - from the DJ [exclamation points added - ed.]. Yeah, well, maybe not quite as breathlessly penetrating as the publicist's text hypes, but a good look at the real torment of closeted life in mid-century not-so-modern America. -- CONDITION: Very good +, in very good DJ, 162pp. Book is clean and undamaged, DJ has small crease/tear top center front. Both are tanned, not quite as heavily as expected for books this age. Later re-issued as "Desire in the Shadows", after the word "gay" began to be used widely.
