Born in England during the Second World War, John Crombie founded the Kickshaws association in 1980 with Sheila Bourne. Alongside his activity as an independent translator, he launched into typography, and imagined and produced, with or without Sheila Bourne, around 170 books in English or French, of a very personal design, often full of humour, and which he printed himself (140 with hand typography and around thirty produced by other means).
