McCraven affixed to front pastedown; different owner's ink inscription and purchase note on toned front free endpaper; rear free endpaper toned. Four unpaged b/w illustrations - frontispiece (with tissue guard) and plates opposite pages 142 and 196 are by Louis Loeb; plate opposite page 242 by Fletcher C. Ransom (although he is uncredited on title page); title page credits F.C. Yohn but his signature does not appear on any of the four plates.
