American lamps, famous for their intricate, hand-painted scenes on the inside of glass shades (reverse painting), often featuring landscapes, florals, and nature, set on bronze or metal bases. The lamps were produced by Phillip J. Handel in Connecticut from the late 1800s to 1936. In very good condition. The binding is strong and the text is clean. Dust jacket is in good condition - a little bent on one edge. Some scuffing near the spine and on the corners.

Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.
