First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Economy Printing Concern, Berne, IN. 1940s (pre-1946). Reprint of the 1924 book by Iowa State Senator John J. Ethell originally titled After-Dinner Scraps. This book has been renamed and republished by the Fred Reppert School of Auctioneering for use in his auctioneering schools in Decatur, IN. Since Fred died in 1946, I assume that the frontispiece photo and the fact that his name is still used with the auctioneering, that this is pre-1946. Not dated. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O name on the front wrap. Book Condition: Very Good +; slight toning to spine; light edge wear. No DJ. Gold grained card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is not creased or split; text is secure in binding.128 pp 8vo. This is a book full of jokes, humor, short essays, retorts, stories, humorous anecdotes, limericks, and poetry that are written for use by potential auctioneers as after-dinner fillers and things to help keep a crowd loose and entertained. A clean very presentable copy.
