Hardcover. Condition: Very Good -. First Edition. Hardcover. First edition of this scarce title. Benjamin Kurtz (1795 - 1865) was a German-American Lutheran pastor and theologian. He was part of the revivalist movement of the Lutheran Church in the 19th century, ran the Lutheran faith-based newspaper Lutheran Observer, founded t…he Lutheran faith-based Missionary Institute (Susquehanna University) in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, and assisted in the founding of the Gettysburg Seminary. This small but informative and interesting work is calculated for the common reader as well as the more learned inquirer seeing acclesiastical truth. The book is organized into a series of chapters that each explain one of the ten reasons for being a Lutheran. Bound in brown paper covers with detailed titling in black on the front cover. With a black leather spine that also gives the the title and author in gilt. Covers are soiled, bumped, and frayed. the leather spine is chipped and worn. The pastedowns and free endpapers are chipped and the rear pastedpwn have browning. Title page has browningand a ragged edge. Some text pages also have browning but the text is quite legible and readable. Very good minus. Measures 6.5 x4inches. 227 pages plus four pages of publisher's catalog of books. REL/092225.
