The hinges are cracked and the binding is cracked in a few other spots, however there are no loose or missing pages. The cover has scuffing, scratching and corner wear along with library marks. The spine has end wear, a long tear along the front end and is darkened. Volume II only.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards show scuffing and spotting, particularly on the rear board. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The front end page is stamped "Hon. Ed \gar R Kiess, Member of Congress". Edgar Keiss was in the US House of Representatives as well as the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. The opposite pastedown contains the name F L Stark, which is lightly written in pencil. No other handwriting or markings found in the book. In addition to the 96 pages of text there are 16 foldout plates and maps in the rear of the book plate for is a very large foldout map and there is a tear in the upper inside corner which measures approximately 2 inches. Many pages are good except for some minor folding creases pages do show some light foxing and spotting with the heaviest being both pastedowns and opposite end pages.

All are clean and bright. Covers exhibit light wear, fraying and bumping to corners and spine ends. Light shelf wear and soiling to covers and spines. Inside hinge off volume one is cracked but still firmly attached. Inside front and back covers, ffep's, bfep's and text are slightly yellowed due to age. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Illustrated with 69 reproductions from photographs and numerous maps. Starts in volume one with Pershing receiving a telegram indicating he is to go to France. Concludes with the Armistice.
