Measures about 7 inches tall by 5 1/8 inches wide. 57 pages. Hardcover bound in blue pictorial cloth with a white color pastedown on the front cover, with designs in yellow, blue, red and green. Comes with the original dust jacket, which has the same image on the front and the back. The jacket is worn and soiled but is complete with Edge Margin Stains Back DJ. There is a thin line of damping on the fore edge and bottom edge of the rear panel of the dust jacket. The damping translates onto the cloth beneath, but it does not affect the interior of the book. Interior is sound and appears generally clean. Illustrated with 16 full page color illustrations (including the frontis), a color title page, and a color half title for the section "Rip Van Winkle". The illustrations are by John R. Neill, who of course illustrated the popular "Wizard of Oz" books for L. Frank Baum and Ruth Plumly Thompson. There is an advertisement page at the rear of this book for the Oz books, listing 15 in the series, ending with "Kabumpo in Oz". Kabumpo was published in 1922, so even though the copyright date states 1908, this must have been printed about 1922. A very rare copy of this title. A marvelous little book with a crossover association of two popular children's classics published in the early 20th century. The Ugly Duckling and Rip Van Winkle AND with an association of the Wizard of Oz. A rarity. don't let this one get away!
