Smith Sr.". Fine in bright, crisp dust jacket with shallow wear at the foot of the spine. Harold S. Smith, Sr. (1910-1985) was an early professional gambler and casino owner and operator who established Harold's Club in downtown Reno, Nevada in 1935. In his teens , Smith was an apprentice on the midways during which time he acquired an encyclopedic knowledge of games and the laws of chance. This book is more than an autobiography--it's an amazing account of a gigantic business, afabulos operation in hard cash and human emotions. It its height, Harold's Club employed 1100 people in round-the-clock shifts; it was the set for the 1955 movie "5 Against The House", a predecessor to "Ocean's Eleven".
