Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. English summary This volume contains four papers delivered during the International Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature held in 2007 in Vienna. It presents the current results and the future plans of the "Hebrew Manuscripts and Fragments in Austrian Libraries" project, begun in 1991 by Prof. DDr. Ferdinand Dexinger. Images of the Hebrew text fragments in Austria recorded so far (particularly biblical, rabbinic and liturgical texts) have been available since 2007 in an online catalogue on the website of the Commission of Paleography and Codicology of Medieval Manuscripts in Austria. The topics discussed in these papers include the methodology and aims of the project, an assessment of the results from a Judaic perspective, the presentation of a particularly important fragment discovered in St. Paul im Lavanttal, and a discussion of special characters in fragments of Torah scrolls. This publication will be of interest to Judaists, theologians and philologists. Assen, Koninklijke Van Gorcum BV, 2001. IX, 288 pp. As new. Hardcover. Old Testament - Bible. The Book of Ruth reads like a novel. Scholars agree on the literary virtuosity of its author, but are deeply divided about the way she or he has structured the work. For the first time ever, The Structure of the Book of Ruth makes use of hitherto neglected evidence from ancient Hebrew, Greek, Syriac and Latin manuscripts in an attempt to create a more objective basis for discussions about the book's structure.…
