Together with his boo…kplate to front pastedown, and an article laid in by him (he later became a prominent associated press reporter). Book in excellent condition, dust jacket toned, with 1940s bookstore sticker on spine, a hint of spotting to front panel, minor soiling to rear panel, chipping to spine ends.

Ohne mechanische Kopierverfahren wird die künstlerische Handschrift durch den direkten Kontakt des Mediums eins zu eins im Druckprozess vervielfältigt.---- ------- Joseph Bato (18881966)- Der ungarisch-deutsche Maler erhielt seinen künstlerischen Schliff in Paris bei Henri Matisse. In Berlin avancierte er zum geschätzten Grafiker der Secession und engen Mitarbeiter Paul Cassirers. 1936 flüchtete er nach London, wo er das Papier gegen die Leinwand tauschte allerdings die des Kinos: Als brillanter Szenenbildner prägte er fortan die visuelle Wucht internationaler Filmklassiker und blieb der Malerei dennoch treu. ------------- Die 1916 von Paul Cassirer begründete Zeitschrift Der Bildermann (Untertitel: Steinzeichnungen fürs deutsche Volk) ist ein Schlüsselwerk der klassischen Moderne. Mit Original-Lithografien von Größen wie Ernst Barlach, Käthe Kollwitz und Ludwig Meidner forcierte sie die Demokratisierung hoher Kunst. Kunstwissenschaftlich bedeutend ist sie als essentielles Bindeglied zwischen Impressionismus und Expressionismus. Inmitten des Ersten Weltkriegs fungierte sie als wichtiges Sprachrohr für sozialkritische und pazifistische Positionen, wobei die grafische Formensprache erstmals eine radikale gesellschaftspolitische Relevanz innerhalb eines seriellen Mediums entfaltete.
