No Binding. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Joseph Franz Karl Lanner (18011843) was an Austrian dance music composer and conductor, one of the earliest Viennese composers to reform the waltz from a simple peasant dance to its status as the most popular dance in mid-19th century high society. Before his early death, Lanner was as famous as his friend and musical rival Johann Strauss I, and Lanner's 'Die Schönbrunner' waltz was probably the best known of all waltzes before 'The Blue Danube'. 'Die Troubadours' (Op. 197) was first performed in June 1842, and dedicated to Donizetti. This arrangement for violin, flute and piano was made by John Francis Borschitzky, and included in his 'Concordia: Eine Auswahl von Ouverturen & Tänzen, arrangirt als Trios für Violine, Flöte (oder 2te Violine) & Piano', believed to have been published in 1890. 19 printed pages of scores in 4 separate parts: piano trio with violin & flute; violin part; 2nd violin (instead of flute) part; and flute part. Very good condition of printed scores. Enclosed in pink paper covers with titles printed in black, stamp of Schott & Co., London, bottom RH corner, name of former owner written in ink top right. Cover discoloured round edges and with small tears down RH side. Believed to be 1st such edition in this arrangement.
