Book is in near fine condition, crisp and clean, with tight binding and sharp corners. Laid in are two typed, SIGNED letters (1942 and 1948) and other ephemera from folk festival promoter Jean Thomas. Thomas's travels through the mountains of eastern Kentucky as a court reporter exposed her to the musical traditions, dialect, folkways, and costumes of the local mountain people and led her to found the American Folk Song Society in 1930, staged in and near Ashland, Kentucky.
