The Sawdust Campaign chronicles the life of a National Gurard infantryman sent to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to quiet the riots of striking lumber mill workers and rivermen, who were protesting 12-hour work days.

The building of Wisconsin railroads; letters of Richard Emerson Ela; and more. Ela was a pioneer manufacturer in Wisconsin of plows, wagons, and other agricultural apparatus.
