Add to baskethardcover. Condition: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.
Condition: Nuevo.

Publisher's boards, pictorial dustjacket. Fine. Barcelona, Ediciones Polígrafa, 1990. 4to. 29,5 x 20,8 cm. 128 pp. With 273 illustrations (253 in colour). / English language edition. Josep Maria Jujol was a key Catalan modernist architect, painter, and designer known for his crucial collaborations with Antoni Gaudí and his own highly inventive, eclectic, and "surrealist" style. Often acting as Gaudí's "right-hand man," he contributed significantly to masterpieces like Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, and Park Güell, particularly in the use of color and the trencadís mosaic technique. - - - (Publisher:) "When architecture is given free rein as a personal creative act in which imagination, sentiment and manual skill combine in fragile structures, we are talking about works such as that of Josep M.a Jujol. This architect, who was born in Tarragona in 1879 and died in Barcelona in 1949, carried out a limited number of projects during his professional life. He was a draftsman, a painter, and he taught in the Barcelona schools of Architecture and of Arts and Crafts. He began and completed his apprenticeship under the guidance of Antoni Gaudi and of other outstanding figures in the field of turn-of-the-century Catalan architecture. His commissioned work is modest, small in quantity and economic in its resources. However, Jujol's magic lies in the fact that, beyond all the aforementioned limitations, he was able to convey the creative joy and the free inventiveness of a maker of forms who, in an often solitary, isolated adventure, produced solutions that go far beyond the boundary lines of convention. He was not an avant-garde architect, but many of his findings are comparable to those which both Constructivists and Surrealists made at the same time; neither was he a critic of academic architecture, and yet his work is based on the constant transgression of established norms and solutions. He straddled the conventional divisions between the different artistic disciplines without consciously setting out to recreate the figure of the total artist. He never theorized about his own work or about the future of architecture; nevertheless, in his work we find numerous suggestions that bring him close to many of the most daring experiences in contemporary art and architecture. Josep M.a Jujol is a great unknown, and constitutes not only a discovery that goes beyond the limits of the conventional but also a stimulus in many of the most creative areas of present-day art".
