Seller: My Father's Books, Bennington, VT, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 2nd Edition. Printed in the U.S.A. [Date from the copyright page. Revised Enlarged Second Edition, stated.] Introductory Note, Footnotes, Translator's Note, Biographical Note; 120 pages. A separate leaf announcing forthcoming volumes from Schocken Books is laid-in. The original orange cloth, with only a hint of bumping, is near fine; slate-gray lettering on the spine and upper board is bold and clear. The interior, of high quality 'laid' paper, is fresh and completely clean, despite a touch of spotting to the top-edge. Please NOTE: There was a small chip/tear to page 7-8 (now closed)---apparently from printing, as there is no other flaw in the book. [Visible in one of my five images.] The original unclipped dust jacket ($3.50) has taken all the wear; it is a bit spotted with several small chips and tears. Writings on Kafka by Max Brod (translated by G. Humphreys-Roberts), Edwin Muir and Harry Slochower; plus translations by Sophie Prombaum of: Extracts from "Letter to My Father," Autobiographical Sketch, An Old Page (parable), Outline For A Worker's Collective, selections from Meditations, Selections and Excerpts from Letters, and Excerpts from Final Passages of "The Castle." All material included previously untranslated or unpublished in English. "The added material [in this second edition] should shed further light upon the meaning and character of Kafka's personality and art." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking.
