Soft cover. Condition: New. This volume presents the first edition, along with an English translation, of a Sanskrit work of perhaps the seventh century surviving in a single ninth-century Nepalese witness: the Nisvasamukhatattvasamhita. It would be difficult to exaggerate the usefulness of this primary source for the history of the Saiva religions. Ostensibly an introduction to the Nisvasamukhatattvasamhita, it purports to sketch the religious context in which the Mantramarga emerged. In so doing, it provides invaluable help in mapping the contours of the relations between four different traditions of early Saivism, namely: 1) that of the Pancarthika Pasupatas, 2) that of the Lakulas (here lokatita), 3) the the Mantramarga and 4) pre-Mantramarga "lay" practices. The work is bracketed by a detailed introduction and an appendix presenting material borrowed into the Sivadharmasangraha.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Would you not like to be a unique Leader/Manager? Or you would want to follow the crowd mentality and be carried away by the course of time. If you prefer to become the former, this book may assist you in shaping up your personality to some extent. Perhaps that is why you have chosen to pick this book. In some parts of the book, you may feel like the ultra-traditional leadership or management concept has long been surpassed, and you have sneaked into a platform from where you can view the same thing but from a very different angle. One can get access to many books that are available in the market on management discipline that talk at length about decision making, leadership styles, and ethical standards among other aspects of management. Very unique from those books, though, the philosophy behind bringing out this one actually is to reveal how your own decision making leads you to all needed niche to remain confident in all circumstances. And be able to create an enabling environment for the initiation of meritocratic practices (in an organisation or a nation) when coupled with managerial-ethics and self-audit. The term self-audit used in this book is something pioneering, used in the field of management in a unique way and purpose. Unlike the generic books on management, this book does not discuss merely the principle of management or its schools of thoughts. Nor does this analyse or optimize redundancy on what has already been written by the renowned writers from around the globe. By contrast, the uniqueness about this book is that it emphasises more on the practical aspects of management and inner core of leaders (managers). The inner core which is always filled with virtuous ability is often adulterated by pollutants like greed, pride and anger. Ability of leaders to seal these pollutants from entering their minds prevents undue external influences and enables you (leader) to make a balanced thought in a normal situation as well as in a chaotic/extraordinary one giving rise to meritocratic practices. My attempt, through this book, is to refresh leader's/managers' (and of course that of all readers) knowledge that they already acquire but often place in the backburner when driving the organisation (or leading a nation) presently or in the future. In every organisation (or in the governance mechanism), those in the driving seat, by default of their role, accept the unexpected all along, much more frequently than one could have imagined. The resultant pressure compels the leaders to place the wisdom gained through practical experience in the backburner. As a consequence, they tend to ignore from making use of fit-for-purpose wisdom even when it is badly needed in the real-life workplace, not even realising what opportunity cost they slip out of their hands. Having experienced myself and observing many more leaders/managers in many organisations (and many political parties) of repute unable to reap the benefit of wisdom in challenging situation, I intended to unveil the strengths of meritocracy and make its upbeat available for leaders/managers to tackle the trying times most satisfyingly to themselves and those around them (in an organisation or country). This elevated understanding is founded not only on my theoretical management knowledge that I have studied in university, but also on wisdom I gained through practical experiences and lessons learned during my career with 5 international organisations over the course of 30 years, spanning Africa, Arab States, and Asia. I have always found wisdom genuinely triumphing over theoretical knowledge, and believe so will you do. Let's explore more inside the book! This item is printed on demand. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. This textbook is structured to provide comprehensive knowledge of soil science, building from basic concepts to more advanced topics. The initial chapters introduce the definition and concept of soil, tracing the historical development of soil science and differentiating between the branches of pedology and edaphology. These chapters also explore the functions of soils within our ecosystem, viewing the pedosphere as an environmental interface where air, minerals, water, and life interact dynamically. The soil profile and its horizons are examined to provide a foundational understanding of soil as a natural and three-dimensional dynamic body. The section on soil formation delves into the processes of weathering and the factors influencing soil formation, highlighting the four basic processes-additions, losses, translocations, and transformations-that contribute to the development of soils over time. Following this, the physical properties of soil are discussed in detail, including texture, structure, color, density, porosity, water content, and consistency. These properties are crucial for understanding how soil behaves and supports plant growth and development. The textbook then moves into the chemistry of soil, focusing on ion exchange phenomena, soil acidity and alkalinity, and the management of problem soils. It explains the interactions between soil colloids and nutrients, which are vital for soil fertility and plant growth. Detailed discussions on anion-cation exchange reactions and the principles governing them are included, alongside practical management strategies for acidic and alkaline soils. An essential chapter on soil classification provides an overview of soil taxonomy and details the various soil orders. It includes specific information relevant to Nepal's diverse soil types and land capability classifications. This section is crucial for students to understand the global and local contexts of soil classification, helping them apply this knowledge in real-world scenarios. The final chapters address soil health and quality, concepts that are increasingly important in the context of sustainable land management. These chapters discuss indicators of soil health and quality, soil organic matter, the diversity and impact of soil organisms, and the effects of climate change on soil functions. The textbook emphasizes the importance of maintaining soil health and resilience to support long-term ecological balance and productivity. This textbook aims to engage students with detailed explanations, practical examples, and clear illustrations, fostering a deep understanding of soil science. It is my hope that this resource will not only educate but also inspire future forestry professionals to appreciate and care for the soils that sustain our forests. May this textbook serve as a robust foundation for your studies and future endeavors in forestry. This item is printed on demand. Hardcover. Condition: New. The Panditarajasataka is an anthology of Sanskrit poems composed by poets, both famous and unknown, from all over India. This first nagari edition includes dozens of poems never before published, as well as unique versions of well-known classics. The introduction provides a cogent argument about why the work was composed, showing how, by selection and alteration, specific poems were made to fit the anthologist's overarching goal: to provide poets with a collection that will help them impress rulers and win patronage. The critical apparatus traces each poem's origin and includes their variations down through history. Lovers of kavya literature will be glad to add this translation of highly alliterative verses to their shelves.
