Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition. Signed and inscribed on the first front end paper ( 'For _______, With best wishes, Irene Kampen, February, 1969' ). This book is in excellent condition. You can see the covers in the photos. They are exceptionally clean. The si…lver lettering on the spine is nicely bright. There is just a little bit of crinkling off the top and bottom edges of the spine, a bit of a bump crease just off the bottom edge of the rear cover just adjacent to the spine. The cover edges and corners are in excellent shape, no rubbing. The page edges look very good. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages and nicely tight covers as well. The inside covers and end papers are red. They are very clean and free of wear. That fairly describes the condition of the pages. I'm scrolling through them without finding any instances of creasing or soiling. Nor are there any markings or attachments. And the author's signed inscription is the only writing to be found anywhere. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It too is very clean. It too has some crinkling at the spine ends and again off the rear bottom edge just adjacent to the spine. There are no tears. The flaps are in very solid shape, clean, just a teeny bit of crinkling off the rear flap's top edge. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the dust jacket: 'I think it's awfully brave of somebody your age to come back to college, ' said Franny, Irene Kampen's roommate. Mrs. Kampen, class of '43, had returned to college after twenty-five years, to complete her degree. She was surprised to find that all of the students felt as Franny did-- they considered her venerable and got her confused with the flappers and William Jennings Bryant. Despite this, Mrs. Kampen found that in many ways college had not changed. She had trouble registering and finding her advisor. She had to take Freshman Physical Education. She had to get her mother's permission to live off campus. Still, some of her experiences convinced her that college had changed she tells all about it in this funny and entertaining book.'. Late 19th century boards with handwritten title. 8vo. - Signed by the author in ink; some age-toning affecting the title-page; covers slightly spotted; margins cut short (not affecting the text, however affecting the image, reducing it by 20 %);… an extra replica of the complete frontispiece has been added as an extra; this skillfully produced replica has been printed on 18th century paper and includes a platemark (thus difficult to discern it from the original).* Interesting and rare treatise on the cultivation of bulb flowers, signed by the author.
