Alongside contemporaries such as Carl Andre and Donald Judd, Robert Ryman''s radical painting has fundamentally shifted the definitions and boundaries of art. Spanning four decades, this book charts the gradual evolution of consensus about the meaning of his painting. The most significant essays and exhibition reviews have been collated into one volume, including texts written by some of the most influential art historians and critics. . Some essays appear here in English for the first time. With an introductory essay by Vittorio Colaizzi." -- publisher''s statement. Softcover. Condition: Good. Immediate dispatch from Somerset. Book still in great condition. Cover and corners has some wear but pages are free from notes and in great condition. See images. A great book. About the book >.>.> I grew up singing in a singing family at first in Birmingham and Bally- bunion, later on in the immigrant surroundings of Toronto, Boston, and Brooklyn. My father had a few of the old songs: The Wild Rover, I Wish They'd Do It Now, McCaffery, Early One Morning, Barbara Allen-plus a host of sentimental Irish songs. Even my mother's side, the relatively non- musical Kerry Cremins, have kinship to "The Weaver,? Denis Murphy of Gneeveguilla. So it is out of a long love for traditional music and a match- maker's zeal to see others wooed with its beauty that I thought to put together this sampler. Here is a book of songs for singers. A mixed bag of tenderness, sly humor, sheer horror, compelling lust, history and pseudo-history, repeated thought- less stupidity, a few lies, great heroic effort, sublime devotion, and just damn bad luck. They are songs from England, Ireland, and Scotland: Irish songs from Hampshire and Scots ones from Galway, set with altogether further-fetched mutations.
