Detective Story Club edition. viii, [ii], 214pp. Philip MacDonald (1900-1980) was a British writer of fiction and screenplays, probably best known for his crime thrillers featuring gentleman detective Anthony Gethryn. The Noose was first published in 1930, and Colonel Anthony Gethryn is recalled from a holiday in Spain to solve a murder in the November fogs of London. The present edition includes an introduction by H.R.F. Keating, which first appeared in the Crime Club's 1985 'Disappearing Detectives' series. The book is bound in the original black boards with gold titling on the spine and front board. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper is also in excellent condition and is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.
