In den letzten 40 Jahren habe ich die Transformation der Khumbu-Region am Südhang des Mount Everest beobachtet. 1951 war Khumbu ein schöner Ort mit 3000 Sherpas, die trotz der rauen Bedingungen ein erfülltes Leben führten. Heute ist die Region überwiegend ein Touristengebiet, in das jährlich 12.000 Ausländer strömen und ihren Abfall hinterlassen.
