Die Forts…chritte des Faches und die Verfeinerung der textkritischen Methode in unserem Jahrhundert machten seit Jahrzehnten die Erneuerung sowie Erweiterung des ,Bonner Corpus zu einem dringenden Desideratum der Byzantinischen Philologie. Die Association Internationale des Etudes Byzantines setzte sich zur vornehmsten Aufgabe, die neue Edition der byzantinischen Geschichtsquellen in allen Ländern anzuregen, zu fördern und zu koordinieren. Unter ihrer Obhut erscheint seit 1967 die neue Reihe unter dem Titel CORPUS FONTIUM HISTORIAE BYZANTINAE (CFHB).
