Stapled Wraps. First Edition, First Printing. Unpaginated [seven unnumbered pages]. 8vo., measuring 15.5 x 22 cm. Illustrated, twice-stapled, card covers. At time of cataloguing not found in Peel. An impassioned plea by the author, noted Canadian historian, linguist, and translator Prof. Watson Kirkconnell, undertaking the cause of the beleaguered Ukrainian people: "A new agony has emerged from the martyred Ukrainian people - the agony of forced repatriation to a Soviet Hell. At a time when Allied troops in all parts of the world are clamoring and even rioting, to get home, one tragic group of citizens are clamoring not to go home, and is even ready to committ suicide to avoid it. These are the "displaced persons" in Western Europe, whose homes are in Soviet-occupied territory, or in the puppet states under Communist terror-rule, such as Yugoslavia, Poland, Bulgaria and Rumania. Among these are some 350,000 Ukrainians in the camps of the three Western allied zones, together with perhaps 150,000 others who are hiding in the forests and country places for fear the Allies might forcibly deport them. Sticker offset, presumably from a former institutional accession mark, else, bright, clean, and unmarked; very good+. Scarce in commerce. See OCLC #816830340.
