Helanius was appointed professor of theology at Uppsala University in 1745.With ink inscription to head of title page.An exceptionally scarce work. Unbound, as issued. Significant discolouration and handling marks to first and final leaf. Inscription to head of title page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned, with significant tide marks throughout. Discolouration around tail of fore edges of leave. 20 teckningar i tusch och blyerts, som störst omkring 15 x 19,5 cm, alla signerade, monterade på något större kartongblad (19 x 23 cm) med handskriven numrering 1-20 och text nedanför bilderna. I en liten klotklädd mapp med förslutningsflik samt Esther Kjerners visitkort fäst på framsidan. Teckningarna med enstaka klisterfläckar längs kanterna, stödbladen med några hundöron och lätta bruksspår. Odaterad men synbarligen från 1800-talets sista decennium eller 1900-talets första, då Esther Kjerner studerade på Konstakademien 1890-95 för att därefter företa studieresor till Italien, Frankrike och Holland 1896-98, Tyskland och Italien 1903-04, samt Holland och Frankrike 1908. En av bildtexterna hänvisar till "perspektiviska minnesreglerna No 39 b", vilket prydligt sammanfaller i tiden med "Perspektiviska minnesregler" från 1894 av Pontus Henriques, akademiens lärare i perspektiv sedan 1886 och vice professor i perspektivlära 1910-12. - - - Några av stadsmotiven förefaller kunna vara franska / parisiska (med bl. a. Invaliddomen i fjärran), men det är nog otillräckligt som grund för slutsatser om de rätt olikartade bildernas tillkomst. En teckning föreställer den välkända romerska skulpturen av brottare, som idag finns i Uffizierna i Florens, och flera av landskapsmotiven skulle kunna vara svenska. - - - Ett ovanligt fint och konstnärligt exempel på undervisande nyttobilder. De utgör tillsammans en praktisk perspektivlära med angivna perspektivlinjer i rött, utförandet är ambitiöst och möjligen kan man tänka sig att Kjerner tänkt sig att ge ut dem som ett häfte. Bilderna innehåller långt mera av miljö, detaljer, staffage och skuggning än nödvändigt för sitt syfte, och röjer de konstnärliga ambitionerna. De åtföljande texterna är stundom undervisande, "Alla linier som i verkligheten äro paralella med hufvudlinjen böra på en perspektivbild sammanlöpa i h.p.", stundom rena instruktioner: "Insätt i ett landskap [.] en byggnad i sned ställning".
