Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. This work is an historical reference beginning in the early days of South Dakota. Beginning in the 1830s in the Black Hills, it was known that gold was found there. The Indians knew this. Soon word spread, and men came in search of riches. One of the lucky ones found six hundred thousand dollars of gold dust. Others were disappointed. The author details the various trails leading there, individuals of note, and the toll road to Deadwood. Included are photographs, maps, bibliography, and an index. This copy has light shelfwear; otherwise, appears to be unread, clean, and solid.
