First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. No Jacket. Frederick Richardson (illustrator). 1st Edition. 98pp., vi. No editions or printings cited, presumed First Edition. Copyright page states that there is a "Copyright, 1925, in the "Philippine Islands"; at foot of copyright page to right appears "P-3-27", which might conceivably mean this copy was printed in March, 1927, i.e., after the 1925 copyright specified. Reddish-brown cloth with black lettering and linear and floral design elements on front cover. Minor shelfwear at corners and spine ends; top right corner tip of ffep missing (1/2" on the diagonal), but it is found glued to inside front cover top left, with signs that glue for paste-down was excessive, during manufacture, and, in spilling over the paste-down, ran onto the inside front cover which matched the corner of the ffep, alas, when book is closed; School hand stamp ("Property of . . . .") at top center-left of inside cover, with dates in ink added. Binding tight, corners slightly curled, but text block is sharp, not curled (protective book covers did their job); 1 3/4" closed tear up from the bottom of p. 59/60, near hinge, so difficult to detect, short streak of soiling on p. 60, else pages essentially Fine. No writing in text. No names written in "school property" book. Book remains sturdy, quite usable. Book is nearly 100 years old.
