B. Kleber), Garten und Schloss von Harnoit in der Picardie (Huvet), Garten des Hotel de Soubise (J. Cellerier), Gärten von Schloss Schwetzingen, Gärten von Stowe in Buckinghamshire, Gärten des Schlosses des Marquis de Floriment (von Kleber), Garten von Friedrich II. in Potsdam etc. Gezeigt werden Grundrisse der Parkanlagen, Gartengebäude (teilweise mit Innenansichten und Grundrissen), Gartenmöbel, Holzzäune, Brücken, Boote, Schaukeln, Karusselle u.a. - Der aus Österreich stammende Architekt und Kupferstecher Krafft (1764-1833) bereiste jahrelang Deutschland und England bevor er in Paris eine private Architektur- und Zeichenschule eröffnete. Het werk werd gepubliceerd ter gelegenheid van het 350-jarig bestaan van de kerk…en biedt een diepgaande beschrijving van de transformatie van het oorspronkelijke begijnhof tot een toevluchtsoord voor Waalse protestanten. De kerk is een voorbeeld van gotische architectuur met latere toevoegingen. Het interieur bevat elementen zoals houten gewelven en een orgel dat in 1808 werd gebouwd door Friederichs. In de toren bevindt zich een klok uit 1512. De kerk heeft ook een galerij die oorspronkelijk werd gebruikt door de begijnen.

Un ouvrage in-4°, oblong (34 x 25 cm), cartonné et couvert d'un papier marbré d'époque , avec un dos lisse présentant de faux caissons dorés et une pièce de titre en cuir noir avec lettres dorées. L'ouvrage n'est pas paginé mais il comprend 96 planches gravées au trait, numérotées, dont la plupart sont dépliantes. Ce nombre est…précisé dans un Avant-Propos trilingue de deux pages. Le titre RECUEIL DES PLUS JOLIES MAISONS DE PARIS ET DE SES ENVIRONS COMPRENANT LES ELEVATIONS INTÉRIEURES ET EXTÉRIEURES etc. porte la mention « Deuxième partie", ce qui semble indiquer l'intention très probable de l'auteur de compléter un de ses ouvrage antérieurs paru vers 1801, mais non daté : Plans, coupes, élévations des plus belles maisons et des hôtels construits à Paris et dans les environs. Il s'agissait d'un grand in- folio de 130 planches. Signalons cependant qu'entre notre RECUEIL et ce premier ouvrage se sont écoulés presque 10 ans. Signalons aussi qu'entre- temps J. Ch. KRAFFT a publié son deuxième ouvrage important , publié en 1805 : Plans, coupes et élévations de diverses productions de l'art de la charpente exécutées tant en France que dans les pays étrangers. Or , dans l' Avant-Propos de son RECUEIL, KRAFFT écrit «Encouragé par les suffrages que Messieurs les ingénieurs et architectes ont accordé à mon ouvrage de charpente etc" . Il serait donc possible, mais improbable, d'envisager que la Première Partie du RECUEIL soit cet ouvrage sur les Charpentes Toutefois ni ce dernier ouvrage ni celui de 1801 ni aucun des autres livres figurant dans la bibliographie de J. CH KRAFFT ne se présente comme étant une Première Partie. Quoi qu'il en soit J.Ch. KRAFFT est un architecte français d'origine bavaroise né en 1764 et mort en 1833 à Paris. Son installation en France semble avoir été rendue possible par l'occupation française de la Bavière en 1800 et l'alliance de paix conclue par la suite entre les deux pays. Il écrivit divers livres importants sur l'Architecture de son temps, dont les deux premiers mentionnés plus haut en 1801 et 1805. Quant au 3ème, le RECUEIL DES PLUS JOLIES MAISONS que nous présentons ici, il nous faut absolument citer les mots suivants extraits de son Avant-Propos : «Ces maisons ont été pour la plupart construites depuis 20 ans ». Ce RECUEIL constitue donc un document fondamental et complémentaire de l'ouvrage de 1801 mentionné plus haut ( Plans, coupes, élévations des plus belles maisons et des hôtels construits à Paris et dans les environs , un grand in folio de 130 planches, un grand in-folio), sur l'Architecture des maisons construites au début de XIX ème siècle à Paris et dans les environs. Ouvrage imprimé sur papier ordinaire avec évidemment quelques rousseurs dispersées ici et à, mais ouvrage rare. [52042].
