First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: g+ to vg. First edition. Folio. 192pp. Original burgundy cloth with gold lettering to spine. Frontispiece. This handsome volume of photographs with accompanying text is designed to catch the spirit of "a transitional period of civilization affecting one quarter of the human race." The 84 striking duo-tone photographs edited and arranged by Fritz Henle, are examples of beautiful photography. They are divided into five categories: the landscapes of China; the architecture and sculpture; the religion; education; life and livelihood; and "into tomorrow." The last part displays photographs showing China fighting two wars. One against the Japanese invader, and the other against future insecurity. Upper front corner slightly bumped (not affecting pages throughout). Gold lettering to spine partly faded. Binding in overall good+, interior in very good condition.
Hardcover book, 9.5" x 12.25", no dust wrapper, covers are very good, spine faded, bottom corners lightly bumped, few light spots/very light stain at top near spine; text is very good+ because 1 image has 1" oval ( bottom right) with faint small incision within oval- (printer's fault?) image is still clear, flaw more visible from back - otherwise book would be near fine; all other illustrations clear; printed on 1 side only with text opposite; 192 pp with 104 illustrations edited and arranged by Fritz Henle (f). Book.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good+. 1st Edition. First edition, hardcover, has light bumps to spine ends with the top bump being slightly worse, very light edgewear and some faint rubbing to spine and boards, otherwise a sharp, clean VG copy in Good+ dustjacket which has some soiling to rear panel near top of spine, a quarter inch chip from top of spine, bumps and small chips and tears to spine ends and corners, a four or five inch closed tear to lower corner of rear panel and some rubbing.
