'Since I am now in my eighties, I decided to devote this book, which will be my final one, to the several studies that I had collected during the years, most of which I had not yet fully written and made ready for publishing. They cover a rather broad spectrum, both in time (from Homer ti Cleomedes) and in the scope of their subjects (from the Greek names for the parts of a mill to the Presocratic explanation of the moon's phases). Since the book addresses a rather wide range of subjects, cherry-picking is not forbidden to the eventual readers. (.) I decided to self-publish this volume. (.) The analyses in this book were written in the permanent awareness that we must be cautious not to ascribe too much knowledge, and more specifically astronomical knowledge, to the ancient Greek thinkers.
