Rare letter, issued in the restless period of the remonstrant and contra remonstrant feud. This letter was mentioned in the famous pamphlet den "haerlemschen Harminiaen". A "h…arminiaen" is a follower of the ideas of Arminius in Haarlem. In 1618 this pamphlet was directed against the city government of Haarlem, the "Harminiaenen". According to the unknown author the government was unfairly banning the contra-remonstrants from the city, without a trial. Van der Laan was the maior of Haarlem.
