Hardback. Condition: New. Marine Pioneers: The Unsung Heroes of World War II is a personal history of a young Marine during World War II. This book tells a powerful story that has never been told before and documents a rare look into a "Pioneer Unit", integrated with an infantry unit in the First Marine Division. Kerry Lane tells the riveting true story of his experiences as a Sergeant while serving with a Marine Pioneer Battalion during the Battle of Guadalcanal and the swamp battle known as "Suicide Creek" in the jungles of Cape Gloucester, New Britain. Assisted by the Marine Historical Center and other Pioneers, Kerry Lane has gathered numerous battlefield stories, anecdotes, and experiences told by those who were there and who lived them. With his own battlefield experiences providing an understanding of men in war, he has crafted an interesting book that tells those stories of marine pioneers in battle. Weaving these stories and vignettes together into the framework of the overall battle, this book honors the many marine pioneers, their companies and battalion, that contributed greatly to the victory that changed the course of the Pacific war.…

First edition. Originally published in the British Fascist's journal, "The British Lion" - which Lt.-Col. Oscar Boulton & his Unity Band bought out in 1932 - Lane lambastes the U.S. for trying to collect her WWI war debt and contends that America sold Britain faulty munitions and mishandled money that was never accounted for. Col. Arthur Henry Lane (1868-1938) was one of Britain's most active anti-Semites. His most notorious work was The Alien Menace and he was associated with nearly every extreme right group operating in Britain before WWI. One of those organizations was Unity Band, founded by Lt.-Col. Oscar Boulton around 1930, which he ran almost single-handedly until it dissolved in 1939. Stapled wrappers (7" x 5"), 8 p. Minor creasing, else Fine. An uncommon pamphlet.…

Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. First Edition. Hardback. First Edition. Lake and Loch Fishing. Wear and tear to edge of D/J. Couple of small pieces of D/J. missing. From experience the author learned that a working knowledge of the character and habits of insect life, and a knowledge of the trout and his 'six' senses added not only to the pleasures of fly-fishing but increased the chances of good sport. So in this book he has dealt, in a very pleasant and lucid style, qwith these subjects and many others, such as the theoretical aspects of the rise; the topographical features of the lake and their significance to the angler; the effect of surface winds and the advantages of anchoring or drifting whilst fishing from a boat. Methods of casting, and of hooking and playing the trout under varying weather conditions are discussed. Some of the problems, perhaps, will be new to fishermen who have never pondered on the effects of fluorescence and refraction of light on the fish themselves. A great deal of thought has been expended in adapting scientific principles to simple practical rules. This is a book which should add much to the interest of the fly-fisher's art. Illustrated. 256 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.).…
