Der Text verteidigt in systematischer Argumentation die leibliche Auferstehung Jesu Christi und richtet sich polemisch sowohl gegen antike Häresien (insbesondere doketische bzw. Scheinleib-Lehren) als auch gegen neuzeitliche Religionskritik. Inhaltlich setzt sich die Schrift ausdrücklich mit der allegorisierenden Auferstehungsdeutung von Thomas Woolston auseinander; darüber hinaus werden Positionen zurückgewiesen, die einer spinozistischen Bibelkritik im weiteren Sinne nahe stehen (Baruch Spinoza). Die Argumentation stützt sich auf biblische Exegese, griechisch-philologische Belege sowie patristische Autoren und folgt der klassischen lutherisch-orthodoxen Apologetik des 18. Jahrhunderts.
