Complete run of an important San Francisco punk magazine. Issues 1-12/13 plus "October 1980 Special Free Edition" about a show at The Western Front. All issues in large tabloid format (11.5" x 17.5"), the third being slightly smaller dimensions. Very Good+ overall, with most issues having a horizontal fold in the middle (some more distinct than others), toning, light wear and occasional edge-chipping. Foxing to wraps of third issue. Notes in ink on rear wrap of #7. Very rare as a run. Dubbing itself "The Magazine That's Not for Everyone, " Damage was a calendar of events for San Francisco with interviews, reviews, and features, showcasing the tail end of punk's first wave and its splitting into post-punk, new wave, no wave, and hardcore scenes. This would prove very eventful as the city was a hotbed of creativity during this period with a number of acts that were sonically ahead of everywhere else, even New York and London. Highlights include a collage by Flipper's Will Shatter, a list of "Items" by Jello Biafra and an article on his campaign for SF mayor, photos of punk fashion at the Society for Mandatory Modern Dress Show, updates on performance art in the city, an article on the Tokyo punk scene, interviews with Crime, X, The Dead Boys, Flipper, The Mo-dettes, Circle Jerks, DNA, Gang of Four, Flipper, The Undertones, Public Image Limited, Bruce Conner (in two parts), the Dils, Black Flag, The Cramps, Magazine, the Go-Gos, Lydia Lunch, Adam and the Ants, Stiff Little Fingers, Madness, The Specials, Tuxedomoon, the dB's, The Bags, and the Bush Tetras.
