Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Jacket and illustrations by Juliet Jeffery (illustrator). 1st Edition. First edition, first impression. Some edge wear to top and bottom of Juliet Jeffery's spectacular jacket and spine, some slight overall yellowing, corners rubbed and bruised, gift inscription in green pencil (similar to the hand writing of Juliet Jeffery) on ffep 'Dearest Tobe, Give Gafer the best Easter Ever. Stell 1979', and previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy for its age. 96pp, lavishly illustrated. 'Lavengro' is a Romany word meaning 'word master', and this particular Lavengro was an elderly poet and writer who met Juliet Jeffery at Appleby Horse Fair (we are not told his name). Artist Juliet Jeffery wrote, edited and illustrated several books on Gypsy culture. Quite a scarce book.
