Edizione originale di questo viaggio del naturalista francese André Ledrou (1761-1825) nelle isole Vergini, a Tenerife e Porto Rico, condotto sotto la direzione del capitano Baudin. Il viaggio si rivelò un grande successo scientifico, potendosi nel corso della spedizione collettare una grande quantità di campioni geologici, faunistici, botanici e fossili. Questa importante opera è stata tradotta in tedesco nel 1814. Una traduzione spagnola relativa alla sola parte che riguarda Porto Rico è stata fatta più recentemente da Julio L. Vizcarrondo (1863).
