Brown leather title label with gilt lettering tipped in on front cover. No lettering on spine. Printed by H. S. Crocker Co., Inc. Copyright Albert Dres…sler of San Francisco. 7" x 16 1/4." Unpaginated, c. ten pages, complete. Pages are virtually pristine and intact except for light age toning. Covers are very clean and intact except for light rubbing (most noticeable on leather portions of binding) and slight wear to extremities. A Very Good copy. Fascinating manuscript bound in book form. This is an accounting ledger. The publisher's information is printed, but the main text is an accounting ledger handwritten in black ink on light blue paper. The ledger is relatively brief and records various transactions relating to the town of San Francisco, California. Several of the leaves are blank. The handwritten ledger appears on ten pages but only four of those ten pages fill up the page from top to bottom (the remaining pages only have a brief ledger taking up a small part of the page). The ledger consists of a brief description of the transaction and accompanying numerical figures of the monetary amount. Examples of the types of transactions recorded in the ledger: "Amount of Cash belonging to the town, 1847; Whole Amt. rec. from Mr. Hyde; received from Mr. Petit," "Amount paid out by order of town council," "Amount of Cash paid for town," "Amount of cash received from town," "Amount of cash paid out of the treasury," and "Amt. of Cash in the town treasury." Examples of transaction recorded under "Amt paid out by order of town council": "Octbr. 11: To Mr. Howard for iron chest, $100," "Novbr. 5: To Amt. paid Nathan Hawk hauling, $27.00," "Novbr. 5: To Amt. by order of committee of wharf, $550.00," and "Novbr. 26: To Amt. paid Mr. Stark for school house, $551.00." Example transactions recorded under "Amount of Cash paid for town": "Decbr. 15": Amt. paid Doctor Levingsworth's bill, $31.25," "January 21, 1848: W. S. Muir for labour on streets, $15," and "Febry. 5th: Mr. Wood for labour, $10.50." Example transactions recorded under "Amount of cash paid out of the treasury": "March 19, 1848: "Mr. Kettleman for labour on wharf street, $16.00" and "March 31st: "Mr. Kettleman, bill for sundries, $15.25." Back colophon: "An edition of two hundred and sixty copies, ten of which are reserved for private distribution, published by Albert Dressler, in the month of May, the year of nineteen hundred and twenty-six, of which this is Number 166, Albert Dressler [possible ink signature by Dressler].".
