Binding is black leatherette [faux not full leather, distinguished by lack of silk bookmark and silk moire endpapers] with four (4) raised bands to spine, bright gilt title, etc., to spine, gilt borders to cover about modernistic color print (depicting the protagonist trapped in his situation) by Terry Widener specially commissioned for this issue, and somewhat faded gilt borders to rear panel. Corners are square and sharp. The book was issued without a dust jacket or bookmark. The first novel introducing an unnamed spy (played by Michael Caine as Harry Palmer in the film version). 279 pages including Appendix. 5 3/4" x 8 3/4".
