En renouant, vers 1889, avec les techniques anciennes du bois gravé, il prend à rebours l'évolution de la gravure vers la reproduction fac-similée de dessins. Il découvrit par ailleurs, aux côtés de Charles Maurin et Henri Rivière, les estampes japonaises et les ressources originales du bois gravé en couleurs. Retrouvant la tradition du bois original, les procédés qu'il remet en oeuvre - gravure sur bois de fil et taille au canif - impliquent une sensibilité particulière aux qualités du matériau qui infléchit sa facture.celà donne ce livre qui est devenu rarissime mais néanmoins superbe.!!! .en trés bon état (very good condition).
