The News and Letters Committees [sic], a self-described "Marxist-Humanist" organization, was founded in 1955 by Raya Dunayevskaya, a Marxist theorist, and Charles Denby, a rank-and-file Detroit auto worker. Denby served as editor of News & Letters from 1955 to 1983.
