Hardcover. Condition: Fine. First Edition. A twenty-image gallery of original engravings printed from plates made in 1962, the defining year of American Pop Art, by the defining artists of the era, including Andy Warhol (his first multiple), Roy Lichtenstein, Wayne Thiebaud, Jim Dine, and others. These etchings are presented in book format, with each artwork bound into the book in a mat with a clear plastic protector. Usually, these images are four removed from the book. However, in your cataloguer's most humble opinion, this book presentation is far superior to looking at individual images hanging on a wall. The intimate presentation of the book and the alphabetical sequencing which requires patience to find the famous works leads to unexpected discoveries. And the excitement of having a Warhol you can set on your lap is a real joy. For this issue of the International Anthology of Contemporary Engraving, the editors commissioned the hottest young artists on the American scene to make engravings for this book, mostly in 1962 (for publication two years later). The highlight is Roy Lichtenstein's etching of a light switch. Wayne Thiebaud adapted a painting of yo-yos, shifting the placement of the toys for this black-and-white medium. Andy Warhol appropriated an ad for a discount cooking pot that he found on page 35 of the October 16, 1962 New York Daily News and made it visually interesting through clever cropping (the ad may have appeared on other days as well, but I found it first on October 16 and I stopped looking). These engravings were issued in an edition of 100 copies: 60 numbered with Arabic numerals, 25 numbered with Roman numerals for the contributors, and 15 artist's proofs marked "e.a." for "épreuve d'artiste." The mats measure 9 by 11-3/4 inches, plus the binding stub. This bound volume includes 8 leaves (two blank) for text, with all contents presented in English as well as French and Italian translation. The introduction is by Billy Klüver, who worked with Andy Warhol. The original etchings presented in this volume are all signed by the artist with the exception of the Warhol, which is blindstamped. They are as follows, with captions for untitled works invented by your cataloguer and the mediums and plate sizes (w x h) taken from the cataloging of the Museum of Modern Art website: 1. George Brecht. Untitled ("1 cut out this block"). Etching; plate 4-3/4 by 5-1/2 inches; 2. Allan D'Arcangelo. "American Madonna." Etching; plate, 4-3/8 by 5-7/8; 3. Jim Dine. "Corner Brace." Etching; plate, 6 by 4-3/8; 4. Stephen Durkee. Untitled ("Salvation"). Photogravure; plate, 4-7/16 by 6; 5. Lette Eisenhauer. Untitled (Crossword Puzzle). Etching with pencil additions; plate, 5-78 by 3-7/8; 6. Stanley Fisher. Untitled ("BMOB"). Etching; plate, 4-7/16 by 5-7/8; 7. Sam Goodman. Untitled ("6,000,000 Dead"). Etching; plate 4-7/16 by 5-7/8; 8. Red Grooms. Untitled (Walking Man). Etching; plate 6-1/6 by 4-5/8; 9. Robert Indiana. "Err." Photogravure with etching; plate, 6 by 4-3/8; 10. Allan Kaprow. Untitled ("srorriM"). Etching; plate, 4-7/16 by 5-13/16; 11. Roy Lichtenstein. "On." Etching; plate, 4-1/2 by 5-7/8 inches. Corlett 32; 12. Boris Lurie. Untitled (Stars of David). Etching and drypoint; two images, each 5-3/4 by 4-1/2; 13. Claes Oldenburg. "Orpheum Sign." Etching and aquatint; plate, 4-7/16 by 5-7/8; 14. James Rosenquist. "Certificate." Photogravure and etching; plate, 6 by 4-1/2; 15. George Segal. Untitled (Telephone). Etching; plate, 4-5/16 by 5-7/8; 16. Richard Stankiewicz. Untitled (Ink Blots). Etching; plate, 4-1/4 by 5-13/16; 17. Wayne Thiebaud. Untitled (Yo-yos). Etching; plate, 5-13/16 by 4-1/4; 18. Andy Warhol. "Cooking Pot." Relief halftone; 4-5/8 by 6-3/16. Feldman 1; 19. No Binding. Condition: Fine. ROY LICHTENSTEIN. SIGNED VINTAGE POSTCARD "CRYING GIRL". LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM PSA/DNA. An Original Roy Lichtenstein signed spectacular vintage 5.75 x 4 postcard of his iconic art titled Crying Girl, 1963. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity from PSA/DNA Signed in black felt tip in full signature along the lower edge in Roy Lichtenstein A Stunning Original Lichtenstein signature on his vintage postcard depicting one of his most iconic paintings titled Crying Girl. The signed felt tip postcard will be accompanied by a COA/LOA and would be stunning framed. University-instructor-turned-Pop-artist Roy Lichtenstein is most well-known for his comic-book style homages to 20th century Americana. In CRYING GIRL, 1963, he employs his trademark style. A pioneer of the Pop art movement, he drew upon the content and aesthetics of 1950s comic strips for his iconic Crying Girl prints. Exploring different portrayals of women in distress, Lichtenstein created two versions of Crying Girl, a lithograph in 1963 and an enamel on steel multiple the following year. The women, both blonde and wearing red lipstick, avert their gazes as tears well up in their eyes. Although Lichtenstein often used speech bubbles in his compositions, the Crying Girls are devoid of any text, allowing viewers to come to their own conclusions as to the cause of the womens sorrows. Though celebrated today, Crying Girl was controversial when first released for its simple, cartoonish style. PROVENANCE: The postcard will come with an COA/LOA from PSA/DNA. Signed by Author(s).

Near-mint covers and records are increasingly rare and highly desirable. *** Roy Lichtenstein (1923 1997) was a pioneering American artist known for his bold, comic book-inspired pop art. His signature style featured ben-day dots, strong outlines, and vibrant colors, drawing inspiration from commercial printing and mass media. He played a key role in defining the Pop Art movement of the 1960s. This cover, created by Lichtenstein for Keith Jarrett & Lou Harrison, features his unmistakable graphic aesthetic, making it a sought-after collectible for both art and music enthusiasts. ** Lou Harrison was an innovative American composer, best known for his fusion of Western classical music with Asian influences. His compositions are rich in percussion, unique tuning systems, and cross-cultural elements ** Keith Jarrett is a legendary American jazz and classical pianist, celebrated for his improvisational genius and expressive performances * Unique Provenance: This rare vinyl record comes from an exceptional private collection curated by a collector specializing in record cover design by renowned artists ***** Vinyl Records: The Resurgence of Timeless Beauty ***** Vinyl records have made a remarkable global comeback. In 2022, vinyl sales surpassed CDs in the U.S. for the first time, generating $1.2 billion in revenue. As demand rises, scarcity and prices follow, particularly for rare and unique pressings.Albums with original artist-designed covers are more than just music carriers they are highly collectible art pieces. Their combination of artistic significance and limited availability makes them valuable investment items. The condition of both the vinyl and cover is crucial, as pristine editions command significantly higher market values. We offer a hand-selected collection of rare vinyl records with original covers, available for immediate purchase across Europe. Just a few years ago, many records were widely available, but today, specific titles are nearly impossible to find especially in excellent condition with original artwork. This growing scarcity enhances their desirability, making each find even more special. With us, you don t need to search endlessly our curated selection is directly available, free from import hassles and long wait times. Vinyl as an Investment in Emotion and Authenticity Beyond their historical and artistic value, vinyl records remain highly tradable assets, especially when signed by artists. In the past, artists were often present at record launch events, leading to a number of signed editions that are now exceptionally valuable. In today s digital era, signed records are increasingly rare, with a few exceptions like Kanye West, who regularly signs records with bold statements such as F* Adidas **, which have since skyrocketed in value ***** SHIPPING: Worldwide shipping available ***. First edition, first printing, number 24 of 80 copies signed by Lichtenstein and Ginsberg on the limitation page from a total edition of 125; each print is initialled lower right by Lichtenstein, numbered lower left. In 1991, Lichtenstein was approached to provide illustrations for a French edition of Allen Ginsberg's The New Fall of America. Ginsberg selected 11 poems to be translated into French and Lichtenstein created 10 collages inspired by them, from which etchings were printed for the book. The imagery is characteristic of Lichtenstein's work in popular illustrations. "The image of Ginsberg as a Buddha in a lotus pose, for instance, was inspired by a vignette symbolizing meditation on a yoga class sheet. Cubistic visions of the city and emblems of explosions alternate with more peaceful landscapes to provide a visual counterpart to Ginsberg's vivid evocation of contemporary America" (Morgan Library and Museum). Corlett 267-276. Folio. 10 coloured etching and aquatints on 250 gsm Velin d'Arches paper. Sheet sizes: Approx 48 x 35.4 cm. Image sizes: Approx 37.5 x 27.8 cm. Original red cloth, spine lettered in white, Velin d'Arches paper pages unbound. With the publisher's blue cloth slipcase. Fine in fine slipcase.
