There is a losely inserted letter from General Bernard Paget to Field Marshal Alanbrooke. New (2018) black cloth with gilt title on spine. New end papers. Very good condition. New binding and end papers. Half title, frontispiece and title page show some damp staining. Otherwise bright and clean inside. Provenance: From the Library of Sir Alan Francis Brooke, Field Marshal Alanbrooke, 1st Viscount Alanbrooke. Sent to Field Marshal Alanbrooke by General Sir Bernard Paget with a letter as a 'memento of your inspection on Founder's Day this year.' [1950] General Sir Bernard Charles Tolver Paget, (1887 - 1961) was a senior British Army officer during the Second World War. He commanded the 21st Army Group from June to December 1943 and was Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) Middle East Command from January 1944 to October 1946. He was the senior serving general in the British Army.
