Includes one folding map and numerous illustrations and photographs throughout. NOTABLE PROVENANCE: Bears the stamp of the Cercle Polyglotte, Hôtel Ravenstein, Bruxelles — one of Brussels' most distinguished intellectual clubs of the Belle Époque period. Binding: contemporary half leather (green), marbled boards, gilt title on spine. Age-appropriate wear consistent with 128 years of age. Interior generally clean. An important primary document of Belgian colonial history and of the 1897 Brussels World Fair. It was his first officiel commission. Also the architects Hankar and Hobé were involved in the project.
