Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Dykelands; Photographs by Thaddeus Holownia, Poems by Douglas Lochhead; published by McGill-Queen's University Press, Montreal and Kingston, 1989. One of 1,400 copies. Signed by Holownia and Lochhead, I have two copies of the book and the signatures differ. Loosely inserted inside the front cover is a full newspaper page, The Times-Transcript, December 23, 1989, entirely focused on this book and its creators, with photos. From the blurb - Anyone who has roamed the Tantramar salt marches at the head of the Bay of Fundy will enjoy Dykelands, a fascinating collaboration by photographer Thaddeus Holownia and poet Douglas Lochhead. Those who have never seen the marshes will discover a rare and poignant beauty in the haunting images of barren marshland created by Holownia's photographs and enriched by Lochhead's poems. The large, horizontal photographs are well-suited to preserving the remarkable detail of this vast, flat expanse of mud and marshland. Lochhead composed his poems while reflecting on the twenty-six photographs Holownia produced. This large format book, 19" by 10", is in fine condition in a near-fine dust jacket. It should be noted that the first free endpaper is slightly darkened from the inserted newsprint. A beautiful production from the McGill-Queen's University Press as usual. This very large and very heavy book may require additional postage. Signed by Author(s).…
